Terms of Service
Last updated: 9 July 2026
1. What RunDollar is
RunDollar is a prepaid accountability service. You set a running distance goal and a timeframe, connect your Strava account, and authorize an accountability amount of your choosing (20–500 USD). The service is a conditional-fee arrangement — not a wager, bet, or game of chance. All references to "stake" or "commitment" describe an accountability amount that applies only if you do not meet your own goal, and that is donated in full to charity when it applies.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, have a valid Strava account, and provide a valid payment method to use RunDollar. By creating a contract you confirm you meet these requirements.
3. How a contract works
- You choose a distance goal (in kilometres or miles) and a timeframe: either 7 days or 30 days.
- Your contract begins when you authorize your payment card. Only runs logged after that moment count toward your goal. The window lasts exactly 7 or 30 days from that time.
- Only GPS-tracked Strava activities of type "Run" that start within your contract window count toward your goal. Treadmill runs, manually entered activities, walks, and other sports do not count.
- At contract creation you choose and authorize your accountability amount (20–500 USD, in 5 USD steps). This is a card authorization — no money is charged at that time.
- If you reach your goal before the deadline, the contract is marked succeeded and your card is never charged.
- If the deadline passes and you have not reached your goal, the contract is marked failed and your chosen amount is charged. 100% of it is donated to the vetted charity displayed to you before you commit; RunDollar keeps no part of it.
4. No cancellation, no exceptions
Once a contract is active and your card is authorized, it is binding and cannot be cancelled, paused, or amended. There are no exceptions for injury, illness, travel, or any other circumstance. The deadline does not move. Please only create a contract with a goal you are prepared to keep.
5. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. Card details are collected and stored by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment provider; RunDollar never sees or stores your full card number. When a contract fails, we charge the authorized 100 USD to your stored payment method. All amounts are in US dollars. Because a successful contract results in no charge at all, there is nothing to refund; charges on failed contracts are final.
6. Charity donations
For each failed contract, 20 USD of the fee is earmarked as a donation to the charity shown to you at contract creation. RunDollar reconciles and disburses these donations periodically. The charity does not receive your personal information as part of this process.
7. Strava data
RunDollar uses the Strava API under Strava's API Agreement. With your permission we read the distance and basic metadata of your GPS-tracked runs solely to verify your own goal. We do not sell, resell, share, or otherwise commercialize your Strava data. RunDollar is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Strava. See our Privacy Policy for details.
8. Accuracy and reconciliation
We track your runs automatically via Strava. At the end of each contract we perform a final reconciliation against Strava to account for any activities that may not have synced in real time. Contract outcomes are determined by this reconciliation.
9. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
RunDollar is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Running carries inherent physical risks; you are solely responsible for training safely and within your abilities. To the fullest extent permitted by law, RunDollar's total liability arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in connection with the relevant contract.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will not apply retroactively to contracts that are already active. Continued use of the service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
